What Do All Successful Sales Have in Common?

Throughout my experience of working with both home purchasers and sellers, these are four important qualities that I see consistently when working with those clients who have the smoothest sale/purchase:

  1. Great Communicators

Great communication between the client and the real estate agent is the foundation to a good sale/purchase. Buying and/or selling a home can be both logistically and emotionally complex. Great communication and open dialogue throughout is vitally important in ensuring both the client and agent are on the same page and navigating through the process.

  2. Realistic (both of the market and the home)

There are basic truths when it comes to real estate: what you see on and in the news is only partially true and there is no perfect house. 50% of an agents job is to stay on top of what’s going on in the market and position their clients in the best possible spot to achieve their goals. If you’re not sure what to expect or have some assumptions you’d like to discuss, just ask (please see point #1). If you are coming in with goals that just aren’t realistic for what’s possible in the market, you’re not going to have a great time.

  3. Pro-active

Buyers, have you talked to a lender before looking at the house to know what you can even afford? Sellers, have you stayed up to date on the basic maintenance around the house; especially the big ticket items? Regardless of the position you’re in, there are always prep steps that should be done in order to set yourself up for success later on in the process. If you’re reaching out to an agent before completing these items, don’t be surprised if the agent brings them up. If you’re not sure what those proactive steps are, let’s connect and have that conversation.

  4. Communication

    It’s that important!
